We can't believe how fast this last year has gone by. Another year our family had with our Dad and just about to celebrate another birthday Saturday with him. He will be the big 64!
The holiday season is his favorite time of year. We are fortunate he is home to celebrate with us. However, after Thanksgiving he will headed back to Tufts to have LVAD surgery. This is a Left Ventricular Assistance Device. It is pump that will be attached to his heart to help pump the blood out to the rest of his body. He will have a 4-6 week stay in the hospital in Boston and then recover at home for several months to follow. The device has wires that will exit through his stomach and he will be required to wear 4 batteries packs around his waist at all times to keep the pump working.
While this will be quite a life style change for Dad he is so grateful for a device that will allow him more time with his family. We are currently working on fundraising to help with travel costs, medical expenses and a generator for his house as he currently has no back up if power is lost. His new batteries will be required to be charged daily and loss of power could be life or death.
As we move into the holiday’s and time with our family we want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! And a reminder that Tuesday is giving Tuesday and any donation made to our Dad’s fundraising site will be free of credit card fees for processing and ALL donations are tax deductible. If you are planning on make donations this year please consider helping this wonderful man make this holiday season a little easier.

Thanks to everyone who donated to play in our March Madness pool. We raised over $500 with the winner able to take home 1/2 the prize. Our winner was Rob Ruma who was so generous to donate his winnings back to our charity. Thank you Rob!
