We're home!!! Rocky was released from the hospital on Sunday. We are very happy to be home, but a little nervous. I am hoping to return to work next week but we are, as always, taking it one day at a time. We are hoping to remain at home until a match is found for transplant, but the doctors have warned us to expect frequent hospitalizations before and after transplant. We want to say thank you to everyone who has been praying for us and has made generous donations. No one is ever prepared for something like this. We are looking forward to the upcoming fundraisers being organized by our dear family friend Karen Conner and our daughter Sarah. You can see the details for their events under "Fundraising Activities".

Day 82 in the hospital
We are sitting in our room waiting for someone to come and take Rocky to have yet another procedure done. They are going to insert a tube with a camera down his throat to check for protruding veins that could cause internal bleeding. When your liver isn't functioning at full capacity blood can get backed up and cause veins to swell and burst. Needless to say he isn't looking forward to having it done. Since he's having the procedure, he hasn't been allowed to eat or drink since last night. He is already only allowed to drink 1.5 liters of fluid a day and it is about to drive him crazy! He is also on diuretics, so he feels dehydrated all the time and is desperately thirsty. He has been stuck for IVs, blood sugar checks and bloodwork so many times that he is covered in bruises and they are having trouble finding a vein that will work. The staff here have been wonderful and do their best to make things easier on him. Rocky has kept a good attitude most of the time but he is tired and beyond ready to come home. We talk everyday about all of the people praying for and encouraging him in so many ways. Hopefully it won't be much longer until we can come home for awhile.
