Tommy is out of the CICU now & gradually progressing toward recovery. He still has a very long road ahead of him. Because I was recently asked:
Yes, Tommy gets Disability.
Yes, it HELPS with SOME, but NOT ALL of our living expenses.
Yes, we do NEED fundraisers & I will be contacting some people this week now that I can finally breathe a sigh of relief knowing my husband is out of the CICU.
No, the funds raised through our Help Hope Live page DO NOT come to us directly. That is for Tommy's medical bills ONLY. Please don't be offended, but $590 is just a drop in the bucket honestly compared to the combined $5000 that we owe Shands, Tallahassee Memorial, Tallahassee Pulmonary Clinic, Radiology Associates, & the TMH/FSU Internal Medicine Residency Program.
No, we are NOT eligible for food stamps because his Disability places our income above the level to qualify.
No, we do NOT receive any assistance from other family members. Like us, they have kids of their own to support & their own bills to pay.
So, YES, when I ask for shares & donations, I do so because we NEED all of the help we can get!
Case in point: Today, Tommy's Disability was directly deposited. I paid all of our monthly bills. No gas. No groceries. JUST the bills. The bills to avoid disconnections & repossessions. There is $31.19 left. That is ALL that we will have until his next Disability check comes on July 26th.
