Family and friends of Shelli Dade Fleming are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation. She has been a cardiac patient since she was 8 years old. After a series of cardiac events over her lifetime her heart has finally failed with the need of an LVAD that will bridge her to a transplant. Her blood type is hard to find and she may be waiting for over a year for the heart. She is building her support team to get her through this 3rd chance at life. (She had her second in May of 2005) She will have expenses after her LVAD surgery for medication and housing once discharged from the hospital. (needs to live near Stanford for 2 weeks).
Shelli has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 the LVAD team at Stanford Medical successfully implanted the HeartWare device. My mother, husband Mark and family friend David Wilson all patiently waited for the surgery to conclude. It Works! I feel so much better. It is amazing how well a healthy beating heart feels. I am in awe of science and technology. When I am through healing from the open heart surgery, I will be listed on the UNOS organ transplant list awaiting an O+ heart. I was discharged Monday, April 3rd and am staying with my family in Palo Alto near Stanford for two weeks.
