In 2009, Doyle Bott was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema. He was 62 years old and was put on part time oxygen usage and inhalers. Two years later, Doyle had surgery on his left lung due to some blebs and shortly after needed full time oxygen and more inhalers. His condition gradually became worse through the years. In April 2017 he was placed on the waiting list for a lung transplant.

Doyle was born in Ft Collins, Colorado in 1947. He served in the Air Force for four years. He worked as a truck driver for a feed mill for 35 years until he had to quit because of his illness. Doyle is strongly supported by his family and friends. He is looking forward to the extra years of quality life the new lung will give him.
