Tom Langdon is a 72 year old man who has been blessed with an active and healthy life until three years ago. He is now in the last stages of renal failure and is in need of a kidney transplant. Tom, a very proud individual,is not looking for sympathy or for a handout. What he hopes to achieve through his illness is to make communities aware of the many individuals among them who could again enjoy the pleasures of life that sometimes are taken for granted. Organ transplants are very expensive and are usually beyond the financial means of most families. Please help in passing the word that many people are in need and any help will not go unappreciated.
Tom grew up on a farm near Four Oaks,NC where he graduated from high school with superlatives in music and athletics. He has earned three degrees from East Carolina University and a doctorate in Education Organization from Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN. Over the years,Tom has served the NC public school system as a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. He has also worked as an ad Hoc professor at UNCW and ECU schools of education. Since retirement,Tom has worked as a consultant in his wife's business,Jordan Driving School.
Family life has always been the forefront of Tom's commitments. He is married to Lorraine Jordan,a local business woman and international bluegrass entertainer. They have a daughter,Susanna, who resides in Garner. Tom has two boys through a previous marriage,Marc of Houston,Texas and Brett of Clayton,NC. His sister,Peggy Snead lives in Manteo,NC.
Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, most transplant patients face very high expenses with post-transplant medications up to $1,200 per month plus copays, lab fees, sometimes relocation, and more.
