I have been diagnosed with end stage COPD caused by Acute Emphysema. The doctors at Mayo Clinic have determined that my only option is a double lung transplant.
As you can imagine, the costs involved are enormous. I will have to relocate to be close to the hospital, there will be lost wages and the bills will keep coming.
This is why I am reaching out to family and friends to join me in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help me with critical out of pocket medical expenses before and after the transplant.
I am a wife, mother and grandmother (Mimi) of five beautiful children. In the past, I was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Then I took time off for me to learn. Now it’s time for me to get back to what I love- teaching about my Lord and Savior.
I love life and my Lord and Savior and want to stick around to help teach my grandchildren and others; to be a witness for Jesus.
Mindy has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support!
Mindy has now developed PTLD,Post Transplant Lymphoma. It is B Cell lymphoma and she is receiving the R-CHOP Chemotherapy trratment. It was very discouraging to recrive this diagnosis.
Thank You for your support.
Hello ,
Mindy has made really good progress. She passed her evaluation by walking 30 minutes on the treadmill. Her sugar level is being controlled by medicine and diet. It is really a big adjustment for someone who has never been diabetic. The medicine is quite expensive and insurance premiums are very high, if you can donate any amount it would be a blessing. Thank you For the prayers and support.
Hello everyone
Mindy sends her THANKS for your Prayers and support. She is struggling with the pain after the surgery and continues to need your prayers. The medicine she is taking is also making her nauseated. She has good spirits and is hoping to get out of the hospital in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for your help, CHUCK Shelby
Hello everyone, CHUCK here with an update: Mindy is doing really well after her Double Lung Transplant. She improves a little each day but she will continue to need your Prayers. Please remember your donations are strictly for Medical needs only, the Medications she needs for the rest of her life are very expensive, so any donation will help us.
Thank you Chuck Shelby June 04, 2018
Hi Shelby,
My son Derrick Grimm is on here.
I was looking up random pages on this site to see what other people’s pages looked like.
How are you doing? How is your baby?
