On December 19th, 2020, Samuel received a phone call from his Coordinator at the CHI Baylor St. Luke's explaining that he needed to shower, shave, have some coffee, and to have a lite breakfast. Now this is the 3rd of 4 calls that Sam had went through and after three calls and two trips to the hospital for possible new lungs, this was just another trip of possible transplant.
This trip was a little different right off the bat. There was very little rush, a feeling of finality from the staff and doctors, and a completely relaxed atmosphere. Sure enough, about 8 am on December 20th, Samuel was gifted with the gift of life.
What an amazing God, donor, doctors, nurses, and surgeon's Sam was gifted with!
Sam has a long way to go and a lot of trips back and forth to and from the hospital, with possible rejections, blood tests, scopes, scans, x-ray's, biopsies, and visits, but the moment he woke in recovery and couldn't speak around the ventilator, his very first sentenced written on the piece of paper will never be forgotten.....
I Can Breath!
SUCCESS!
Sam just got released from the hospital after having a double lung transplant and only 17 day's of recovery.....
To all of you who added your prayers to the many, many, many, prayers already headed upward, thank you so very much.... from our hearts to yours!
