Lung damage from IPF is irreversible and progressive, meaning it gets worse over time. The pulmonologists have given my father medication to slow the process of the Fibrosis, however, it has not slowed it enough and his lungs have deteriorated. He is now in need of a bilateral Lung Transplant.
My Dad was the head of the household and due to this disease, he has not been able to work. It’s been really hard on both my parents financially, physically, and emotionally. One of the most difficult things I had to hear was that my Dad is in need of a lung transplant. He started the first step of getting a full workup to be on the transplant list.
Unfortunately, we were hit with the news that in order for him to be on the transplant list he would also need to have excess funds to cover relocation expenses and medication for when it is time for his transplant. This is where this fundraiser comes in. It is so difficult to do this and ask for help as I know what a hard year it has been for everyone with everything going on. If you are able to donate it would be so greatly appreciated.
Family and friends of Jorge Lam are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Jorge has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. My dad has been on oxygen for over a year now his lungs were deteriorating little by little, however, last weekend he felt worse than he ever has. On 6/21/21 he was brought to the Emergency room and was quickly admitted he is taking in 100% oxygen at 40L. The doctors informed him that his lungs are worse which they had warned us that this day would come. He was approved and placed on the lung transplant list on Wednesday 6/23/2021. Now we wait for new lungs. Any help is truly appreciated
