Since 2015 my mobility has declined due to COPD and other issues (I never smoked). I eventually was able to get a mobility chair, but my vehicle could not accommodate the chair. Getting rides lined up has become nearly impossible due to scheduling conflicts, my inability to get in most standard size vehicles, especially small cars, SUVs or trucks. None of my friends can accommodate a mobility chair with their vehicles. Free medical transportation is not available to me, and other transportation options are unaffordable. At this point I desperately need a wheelchair accessible van. Some of my friends are trying to help me raise the money with help from the nonprofit organization Help Hope Live to purchase one of these vans.
In my research, I came across Help Hope Live, a non-profit that helps people fundraise for expenses related to catastrophic illnesses. I chose Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. It is very important to me to maintain integrity in this project and to ensure my donors know the money will go for the purchase of the van.
