Kimberly and her family moved to California a couple of years ago to live with Kim's parents for extra support.
Since moving to California, Kimberly and her family have endured a number of challenges with her health. Transplants are wonderful life saving operations that come with a great deal of challenges. One of those challenges is the onset of diabetes due to some of the medication designed to keep the patient out of rejection. In addition, there is nerve damage that causes pain and enhances pain to areas affected by the strokes Kimberly endured prior to transplant.
Kimberly's husband Will is currently taking classes in hopes to find a better job to provide additional support to their family. In the meantime, they continue to work together with their parents to meet the day-to-day needs. Finances have become more challenging as Kimberly's father is now completely disabled and waiting for a court date with Social Security so his case can be heard.
The trips to Cedars have become more frequent as they work to help Kimberly manage the pain and watch over her heart. Other tests are necessary as well to ensure the medication keeping her alive is not doing damage to other organs. Contributions are greatly appreciated and are often used to cover gas, food and sometimes lodging for Kimberly and her husband when they go to Cedar Sinai for appointments.
On the upside, Kimberly still has a great attitude. Her son Jon is nearly 8 years old now and brings great joy to the family. Kimberly enjoys singing and participating in church events and does so as often as her health will permit. We hold on to our faith that God will continue to keep her and allow her to get better with His help and the help of her physicians.

Kimberly has been experiencing some complications due to medications. Recently the family's car became inoperable. They will need to rent vehicles periodically to go to appointments. She was admitted to the hospital, but is getting to go home today. Her outlook is better, but doctors will be monitoring her closely.
