Before the accident Jimmy worked as a commercial roofer. He traveled to many parts of the world for his work including Sri Lanka, the American Embassies in Jordan and Panama and even Guantanamo Bay. Jimmy is optimistic about returning to a productive and fulfilling life filled with hard work, good friends and lots of love. However, his employer terminated his employment about six weeks after the accident. He now faces the additional costs of COBRA or private health insurance in addition to his many medical expenses.
Jimmy and I have been life partners for about five years. We came together through shared tragedy. I lost my beloved husband, Tom, to a motorcycle accident; Jimmy lost his younger brother, Steve, to a motorcycle accident. Because of this, we are very aware how fortunate we are to have survived this accident and are dedicated to promoting awareness of TBI and the importance of bike riders to always wear a helmet.
To help with the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Jimmy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, and held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Traumatic Brain Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Please consider a donation today and click the DONATE NOW button.
Thank you for all of your help and support. Jimmy and I are very grateful.
Sincerely,
Sherry Stephenson, Jimmy’s significant other

12/30/2014 We had a wonderful Christmas especially with 4 year old Nick. Lots of laughter and good conversation. Jimmy and I are looking forward to 2015.
October 15. Thank you to all for your support and kindness. Jimmy gets stronger everyday. We had a good visit with doctor last week. Jimmy's blood pressure is finally up where it should be at a healthy 109 over 59! We are continuing on the same medications which have had a definite positive impact.
10/1/14 Jimmy and I are enjoying the cooler weather, even with all of the rain. Also happy that we don't have any doctor appointments this week!
September was a long month with three separate trips to various neurologists at Shands along with primary care doctor visits.
We are back to doctor next week, hopefully will get some positive (good) test results.
Thank you to everyone for your support. We are both very grateful.
Stay strong and keep fighting… Jimmy has came along way since July! Keep the faith and just take one day at a time…
