Well everyone, hello! I had the surgery to put in the peritoneal dialysis catheter. In about a month, I'll be able to start my "regular" routine again. I honestly can't wait. I felt a small relief at the idea of no longer doing hemodialysis. It just takes too much from me.
I'm also moving forward with becoming reactivated on the transplant list. First I will be meeting with the UCLA Cardiologist, Dr. Lee. After he clears me, I'll meet again with the UCLA Kidney Transplant team. Then if they find all is clear to proceed, I'll get any tests that need to be renewed and I'll be active once again.
Thank you all again for your continued support and prayer!

So... this is what has happened so far:
- I had peritonitis. It took 2 months to get rid of it. That was midway thru July and into September. During that whole time I was on antibiotics. - Rest of September was a severe and painful rash on my chest where my dialysis catheter is. That was 2 more weeks of meds. - Beginning of October I contracted Cdiff. This is basically intestinal spores. Most likely caused by the amount of antibiotics I had been on already and required 2 more weeks of meds. - Near end of October I developed pancreatitis. The pain was severe, but the inflammation of the pancreas was minor. - November I finally was able to take antibiotics for the cough I had this entire time which turned into bronchitis. - Early morning, November 30th, I went into cardiac arrest. A defibrillator was required. Ventricular fibrillation (v-fib for short) is the most serious cardiac rhythm disturbance. It is a type of arrhythmia where the lower chambers quiver and the heart can't pump any blood, causing cardiac arrest. Ventricular fibrillation is a leading cause of sudden cardiac death. I was unconscious for a few days and still have no memory of those 5-7 days.
Where does all of this leave me now?
I mainly rest. I stayed with my mom during this ordeal. Lori Dumont and Carrie Anne Johnson have been unbelievable. As have Jack B Kelly and Anton Fair. Both an amazing help to me and my family. Thank you all that got the word out for people to pray. Feel free to invite them to this page and I'll try to keep updating.
Next up: my outpatient surgery has been approved so that I can return to peritoneal dialysis. I'm in the prep process now.
