Unlike most children, Robert Beshear’s baby brother, Samuel was born with only one kidney. At just 16-years-old, Sam received a life-changing diagnosis, acute kidney failure. In January 2010, after 12 long months of dialysis and medical treatments, Sam received the gift of life – a kidney transplant from an unknown donor- it was a miracle! The transplant was a game changer, allowing Samuel to finish high school and go to college at Northwestern State University.
In 2015, Sam successfully completed a degree in General Studies with a minor in Health and Exercise Science. Unfortunately, just two weeks before his wedding date, and three weeks before his graduation, he became very ill. Testing showed Sam’s transplanted kidney was failing. He needed a new kidney. The news was devastating.
Knowing continued dialysis could be life-threatening, Sam’s brother, Robert, stepped up to the plate as a donor. Tests and screening proved he was a “perfect donor match”! Not only will Sam have uninsured transplant-related expenses but Robert will need to relocate for the donor surgery and will be faced with medical expenses beyond his means.
These brothers desperately need your help. Even with insurance coverage, the procedures will be costly. To help with expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

Working together we can make Sam’s prospects for the future much brighter. His greatest joy is the anticipation of his life with his new wife and their future children.
With sincere gratitude,
Brittany Allen (Samuel’s wife)
