On, Friday, April 3, 2015, a sweet 7-year-old boy named Aiden Arroyo, asked his mom to make a video of him on Facebook because he wanted to help me get new lungs. I just happened to be scrolling through Facebook that afternoon and saw it. I was so moved by this child. He said that he wanted to sell Lemonade to help me get donations for my double lung transplant expenses. With that, Aiden’s mom and dad, Rachel and Jesse Arroyo, made this happen literally overnight. They set up a lemonade stand at Koster Park in Huntington Station, NY. Rachel texted and Facebooked everyone she knew to come down to support Aiden. She is an amazing woman and friend to have pulled this off. So many people saw Aiden’s video. One of these people happened to be a News 12 reporter, who then contacted Rachel, as she wanted to do a story on this "Boy on His Mission". This story also helped raise awareness for organ donation as well as for Cystic Fibrosis. All because of Aiden!! :)
So many people came out to show support on Saturday. I was so overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude. The day was full of smiles, laughs, and fun. I will never forget what this child did for me. I am so grateful for all the support and donations. To watch the News 12 segment click the link below.
Hi- yesterday I went to Columbia Pres for my check-up from being sick and on home iv for three weeks. The appointment went well. My lung function went up from 24% to 26%. I know that doesn't sound like much but as long as it doesn't go down further I am very happy so I will take it! Dr. DiMango said that my lungs sound a lot better.
I have a great support system with my friends and family, and those involved take turns accompanying me to all my appointments. Yesterday Jennifer Correale took me and I am so thankful.
