I am writing to ask for your prayers and support for our brother and friend, Steve Alston. He has two daughters and one grandchild. Steve is an active member of the community, and is a devoted church member, with a great compassion for those who are lost in life.
For the past 11 years, Steve has been struggling with congestive heart failure. He has endured numerous surgeries and has been in and out of the hospital many times. He currently has an LVAD which keeps his heart pumping. His doctors at the University of Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill have told him that his only option now is a life-saving heart transplant. This is where your help is desperately needed.
Not only is a transplant major surgery, it is also very expensive. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are deductibles, co-pays and Steve will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications.
To help alleviate this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Steve’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a non- profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for thirty years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution today. On behalf of Steve and his family, thank you for your kindness, generosity and prayer.
