CARL FINALLY CAME HOME! As many of you know, Carl is finally back home with his loving and supportive family, after a lengthy, but productive stay at the post-transplant lodging center. He remained close to Vanderbilt Hospital for many months after his heart transplant, but the time has finally come where he is able to remain home, as long as his health remains stable. Each day brings many challenges to Carl, as his body continues to accept his new heart, and Carl adjusts to the handful of post-transplant medications that are required to halt any chances of rejection! Carl's next appointment to check for rejection is coming up on May 12th. His wife Brenda is still unable to go back to work, as she continues to care for Carl on a full-time basis. It will take several more months for Carl to recover from his surgery, and he still requires a full-time caregiver. While Carl continues to recover, his medical bills and out-of-pocket medical expenses are mounting and continue to add up to more than he is able to handle alone. Carl is asking for your kind and considerate contribution to help defray these costs. As he continues to make progress each and every day, he still needs your financial support to get through this very difficult time both medically and financially. Thank you ahead of time for your generous and kind contribution for a wonderful and grateful person!

UPDATE ON CARL'S HEALTH: It's been close to 2 months now since Carl's heart transplant surgery and he continues to remain strong and make great progress in his recovery. Unfortunately, adjusting to the handfuls of daily post-transplant medications has proved very very difficult for Carl, as his body continues to adjust to the many side effects. Dizziness, weakness and nausea have been very difficult for Carl, but he is working with his transplant team to overcome these symptoms, and to better balance his required medications. During Carl's cardiac rehabilitation appointments, he is making great strides and progress with his activity level -- Carl has even begun to walk more and his medical team is very impressed with his stamina! Carl remains very compliant and true to his recovery. He follows his physicians' orders and hasn't skipped one pill, or one follow-up appointment, and rehab. session. Still living at the transplant housing, Carl is committed to a full recovery and looks forward to the day he can soon move back home. On March 7th, he is scheduled for a cardiac catheterization; a medical procedure to test for organ rejection. This will determine whether or not Carl's heart is functioning properly, as well as his future. Please continue to keep Carl in your thoughts and prayers, and know that your donation is invaluable to Carl's recovery, his future, and his transplant journey. Thank you for your generous and thoughtful donation during this critical time period for Carl. Gratefully, Brenda and the whole Simpson Family
