FRIENDSVILLE WOMAN WITH COPD IN NEED OF HELP AND HOPE IN 2021

Friendsville, Tenn.—The Boyd family has started a verified, tax-deductible fundraising campaign for mother and grandmother Laurie Boyd’s transplant expenses with the national nonprofit Help Hope Live at https://helphopelive.org/campaign/18218/

Laurie needs a lung transplant to fight COPD. According to Milliman, lung transplant costs can easily exceed $926,000 before insurance. Many transplant-related expenses are not covered by insurance, leaving the Boyds with an enormous financial burden to bring the gift of life within reach.

Costs include $2,000 per month in post-transplant medications, a 177-mile commute to medical appointments, and temporary relocation for three months to within 15 miles of the hospital during the transplant. Laurie’s husband is no longer able to work due to the time required to serve as a full-time caregiver for his wife, further increasing the Boyd family’s financial burden.

Donations made to Help Hope Live in honor of Laurie Boyd are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be managed by the nonprofit to cover only verified medical and related expenses. Help Hope Live verifies medical and financial need for every patient. More information is available by calling 800-642-8399.
