In December 2007, Leslie was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis, an autoimmune disease that attacks the kidneys. Over the years, despite ongoing treatment and many challenges, his kidney function continued to decline until he entered end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in 2024. Since then, he has been on dialysis while waiting for the life-changing gift of a kidney transplant.
To help support Leslie and our family during this journey, we are hosting a Benefit Dinner at Tinker’s Junction on September 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which will include a silent auction and basket raffles fundraiser.
Leslie’s transplant will be performed at Henry Ford in Detroit, 420 miles round trip. Following surgery, he is expected to remain hospitalized for 3–10 days and then will need to travel from Grayling to Detroit twice a week for the first month, weekly for the second month, and every other week during the third month. Donations will help cover the many expenses that come with this journey, including travel, lodging, meals, and household bills.
As a family grounded in our Christian faith, we trust that God is guiding us through this difficult season. We are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support of our community. Your generosity will not only ease a financial burden—it will remind us that we are not walking this road alone.
