My name is Brittany Schneck, a 26-year-old whose life has been turned upside down. Always struggling with cystic fibrosis, the time has finally come for a double lung transplant. It’s a great opportunity with a high cost.
I grew up in a small town where cystic fibrosis was an uncommon disease. My early years were consumed by hospital stays and surgeries. From the age of two and a half with amazing care from my grandparents, I managed to stay out of the hospital until a staph infection flipped my life around. After graduating with my associate’s degree, my life was again consumed by many hospital stays, surgeries, and a new way of life. After a lung surgery and complications, I was unable to return back to work. I pushed my way through online college to receive my bachelor’s degree despite all the obstacles set in front of me. I hope to be able to put my degree to use and go back to work helping others.
A transplant is an amazing chance for a great future life, but it is a large financial struggle. Even though my insurance helps, there is so much more that needs to be paid out-of-pocket such as my relocation for three months to be close to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; co-pays for post-transplant immunosuppressant medications that I will need to take for the rest of my life, travel expenses for me and my caregiver, and so much more.
To help with the financial burden of Brittany’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

Thank you so much for the help that my family is not in a position to provide. Your support is crucial for proper care and my recovery, and is absolutely appreciated.
Sincerely,
Brittany Schneck

Thank you everyone for your support! It means so much to me that people care enough to help me in my time of need. You have no idea how much this means to me!! Thank you!!!
Had a small Yankee Candle party to raise money for my lung surgery today. It turned out really well, and I am going to have more fundraisers. Yankee Candle sales go until January 2017, if your interested let me know!!
Thanks again for everyone's support!!
May 12, 2016 I ended up back in the hospital for antibiotics. I am out now, but I can still feel my breathing being harbored. I am having my meltdowns because I can't do what I used to be able to, but I am continuing to fight and push forward.
I have a feeling my transplant is going to come faster than I am ready for. I will get fundraisers together and continue to get money. Just please help as much as yall can and please donate. My life does depend on this...
Hey everyone!
Just letting you know that I am still going strong and still keeping myself as healthy as I can. I am really looking forward to getting to my goal and getting my transplant so I can resume hunting in the winter without worrying about coughing, fishing the rest of the year when I can, and playing with my niece and nephews like I should be able to do.
I am scared to death of this operation due to all that it entails, but I have been strong my whole life, and I can handle this challenge too, like I have handled the rest of them. I know my family is hoping for a good clean operation so I can get back on my feet and act like the person I used to be. I am still learning to deal with my heath the way it is, but it would be wonderful to be able to run around again and build muscle.
So please help me get to my goal and get myself on my way to a healthier life. Thank you in advance!
