Misty is only 34 years old and is a loving wife, mother to our three children (ages 15, 12, and 6), sister, daughter, aunt and good friend to many. She grew up in De Leon, Texas and is working when she feels well enough. However, the last few months her health has been declining, she is feeling more disabled, has been in and out of the hospital. Unfortunately, the medication she is on is not as effective as it once was. After she receives the transplant, Misty is looking forward to be more involved again in the children’s lives, spending time with family and friends, and being more active in the community.
A stem cell transplant has the potential to stop the progression of MS, but it is an expensive procedure, none of which is covered by insurance. In order to cover the cost of the transplant, and travel and relocation at the time of transplant Misty will need to raise $20,000.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Stem Cell Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for injury-related expenses only. On behalf of Misty and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.
Sincerely,
Pedro Mendez
