We are writing to you today on behalf of our wonderful son, Eric Faulk-Lancaster. In October of 2009, Eric, a Riverside high school student was run down by an 84 year old driver in broad day light while riding his bike. Eric is now an incomplete quadriplegic. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, we have been unable to get Eric the rehabilitative therapy he desperately needs.
Like most teenage boys Eric had enjoyed bicycling, riding his skateboard and continuing his education. Now, Eric lies in bed wishing or thinking each day how he used to take so many things for granted. He has a very long journey ahead of him and will need all the support that he can receive. We will not allow Eric to become another victim, but a survivor of this tragedy, and we refuse to let him be forgotten or left behind. We will not allow Eric to be left alone or voiceless in his fight to walk again.
We are asking for help on this journey he faces ahead. He is hoping to begin rehabilitative therapy at Project Walk in Carlsbad. We are all doing everything we can to help support Eric to make his dream of being able to walk again a reality. This is where your help is desperately needed.
To assist with the costs of Project Walk, a fundraising campaign in Eric’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Catastrophic Injury Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for injury-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation.
We are planning some fundraising events. We could certainly use your time and energy. Please contact us to volunteer.
On behalf of Eric, and our family, we thank you for your kindness, generosity and prayers.
