I cant wait to get a new kidney and pancreas (albeit used I suppose) and see what the rest of my life has in store for me!

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. By the time I was 18, my kidneys had begun failing. I finally reached dialyses at the age of 28. Blessed with a 4 year old child, getting ready to be married to the most remarkable man, Scott. There’s so much to my story, such as losing my father unexpectedly when I was 18, or a car wreck that left me with chronic back pain. But through it all, my Faith has persevered, and I have truly been blessed. For all my trials, I am supported by a loving family and wonderful friends.

Family and friends of Carolyn Lam are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

UPDATE

We got married! Scott and I got married in my front yard on April 28th, 2019. It was a very small, intimate ceremony. The only people present were my siblings and my mother. We sadly missed having Scott's mother and sister, however we are currently planning a larger reception to enjoy with everyone.

I am currently active on the waiting list.

Because of the generosity of several people (Thank you SO MUCH!), I was able to purchase a brand new Medtronic insulin pump! It's so wonderful.

However, it is capable of SO MUCH MORE. But I need another $1600 in order to afford the Continuous Glucose Monitor that pairs with my specific pump. I know God will provide, but if you want to help the process along, I need about $1000.

Again, thank you so much to those of you who have contributed thus far. Shout out to my dad's Merck family - I know y'all stepped in and contributed the majority of what I needed. I am forever grateful to you for that.

So until my transplant, I will revel in the blessings that my Creator has given me. I will stand on His word, and I can't wait to see what things He has in store for my family.

Love to all,

Carolyn Fike

Your father and I were friends during our Merck days. I hope you soon get the needed organs and that your full recovery is swift . Best regards, Lynn Collins
