When I was a teenager I was hospitalized for bilateral deep vein thrombosis. This hospitalized me for 60 days. Multiple different treatments were used. The DVT in my left leg cleared. The one in the right did not. I once again returned to a normal life with the lifelong use of anticoagulants and other medications. In 2018 we found that my left kidney had multiple infarcts resulting in the failure of my only functioning kidney. As many precautions were taken as possible to extend the life of the kidney. Discussions with my doctor it was evident that I would eventually need a kidney transplant. I immediately began working with Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. I was scheduled for a kidney transplant but due to some testing I am back on the donor list. Dialysis is in my near future.
In 2017 I met Kaitlin, the love of my life. We have since purchased our first home. In 2019 I asked her to marry me and she of course agreed. We became Husband and Wife July 23, 2021. We have two beautiful children, Bella born in 2014 and Wyatt born in 2020.
I have worked as a mechanic from 2010 to 2020. I have since followed my dreams of public service. In 2018 I received my EMT-B license. Finally, in 2020 I was able to make this my permanent career choice. I work permanently on an ambulance for a private transport company and work part time for a local fire department. I also volunteer as a Captain for my local volunteer fire department. I have served publicly since 2013.
When my kidney transplant happens I will be off work for a significant amount of time. During this time it will be difficult to provide and make ends meet for my family. Any donations will help.
Family and friends of Alexander Cole are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
