“As a couple, we did all the things required. College degrees, checked. Marriage, checked. Careers, checked. Home, checked. Family, that’s when the list got thrown out the window.
Pulmonary Fibrosis wasn’t even a diagnosis we could spell, but it terrorized our lives and diminished our dreams of starting a family. Through a high-risk pregnancy we were blessed to have a miracle baby. Now we are praying that our faith will see us through to receive a double lung transplant so that we can be parents to our baby.”
Torlo Amos, who goes by Kormasa, has taken the journey like a true warrior. At the same time, she shares the vulnerability she feels through her art of writing. Her love has always been in community health and she sees her journey as a tool to educate others about the realities, joys and pains of terminal illness.
The financial burden of transplant includes medications that are predicted to be more than the Amos’ mortgage payments. They have travel expenses and will have boarding expenses the first month after surgery. There is required equipment not covered by insurance that run upwards of $800. There is also a predicted loss of wage on this one income household because of the 24 hour support needed after surgery.
The contributions towards this family will impact generations. As their daughter, Emiola, witnesses a mother who has championed for her community, those who are underrepresented and her life. Emiola will be gifted to know that the spirit of a woman with purpose is infallible.
Family and friends of Kormasa Amos are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Kormasa has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Hi to the Korageous Heart reading this. This past week has been such a testimony. We had our first Fun-Praiser! There was so much gratitude and Thanksgivings for life!
Thanks to the collaboration of Glorious African Restaurant and Worship Arts Restoration the event was a success! Patrons had the opportunity to purchase a delicious meal from Glorious Resturant) I heard the Cassava Bread was a hit) and be entertained the dramatization of my journey that I continue to write. I could not have done it without my family and friends.
Thank you for stopping by. Please leave words of encouragement and feel free to share my story.
Please enjoy a clip from Coco reciting Face to Face

Please stay strong and positive as you are! I still remember the night when I was going to the open heart surgery, because I had about a year to live, when my baby was only 2 years old. She is 26 now and have two siblings.
God bless you!
