A grandmother’s love for her grandchildren is indescribable. I am their “Nonna.”
I love doing things with them and for them. However, during this past year, my Interstitial Lung Disease has become worse. I have difficulty breathing which requires using oxygen every day, all day. This is not me. I was a PE Teacher for 40 years. I am accustomed to exercising, doing activities with my grandchildren, gardening and preparing big Italian dinners for the holidays. Presently, I am unable to do any of these things. This breaks my heart. I am a positive and strong person and I look forward to a bright future following a successful Lung Transplant. Even though the transplant itself is covered by my health insurance, the monthly anti-rejection medications are not fully covered. Therefore, my estimated out of pocket expense is $2,500.00 a month.
