Trevor Jones

On December 4, 2020 while vacationing in Belize with friends, Trevor dove into the ocean hitting a sand bar, breaking his C-6 vertebra in his spinal column. Realizing immediately that something was very wrong as he was unable to feel anything or move his arms and legs, he summoned the help of his friends and was pulled onto the dock where an emergency call was placed and medical crews arrived to transport him to the hospital. He was quickly flown from the small island of San Pedro to Belize City where he was stabilized and a neurologist was called in to evaluate his condition. It was determined that surgery would be required before he could be transported back to the United States.
Swedish Hospital and Craig Rehab Hospital in Colorado were the first places that Trevor received care and started his rehabilitation once he was back in the United States. After 4 months in Colorado, Trevor came home to Kansas and continued with his rehab work at Ability KC and NextStep. Always looking for more opportunities to improve his recovery, he sought out Crossfit gyms and a neuro-recovery center in Texas called React. All of this therapy is not covered by insurance and comes at a significant cost.
Besides the cost of therapy, there is the expense of providing a living space that allows for independence and adaptability that caters to Trevor’s needs. These resources are an added expense that is continuous and ever-changing.

Family and friends of Trevor Jones are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury. Living with a spinal cord injury has been estimated to run into the millions of dollars over a lifetime. Trevor is returning to school to eventually have a career and be able to support himself again. For now he needs the support of others to make this a reality.
