As many of you are aware, my name is Kevin Rifkin, Ellen’s husband of 23 years and we have been through a lot of medical issues up to this point, but nothing like a transplant (liver or otherwise). Since October 2021, it has become a priority to have a liver transplant as hers is failing due to cirrhosis, caused by an autoimmune deficiency, by doing all of the necessary testing to be put on the transplant list.
Ellen works hard as patient registration coordinator with Advent Health Centra Care in central Florida registering patients to be treated for their urgent care needs to be seen by the nurse and or doctor. Anyone that already knows her personally (as I do & love) is aware of what a kind & loving person Ellen is; she has a heart of gold.
This transplant, can be very costly & there will be medication she will be required to take for the rest of her life in order to maintain the new liver; which may not be entirely covered by insurance.
We are asking that, you or someone you know, take a moment and consider making a donation for our cause of simply helping with medical expenses not covered by insurance that are sure to come our way as the procedure alone can cost over $800,000.
Family and friends of Ellen Rifkin are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Ellen has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
Ellen HAD in fact received her new liver/ kidney this morning on her Birthday - a wonderful new lease on life on her birthday
Ellen is due to receive a new liver & kidney today!!
Ellen is now on the Kidney & Liver Transplant lists & her MELD score has climbed to 35
Just found out Ellen's MELD score is up to 32 as of now; we know at this point she has to get better with the lactulose -that Med is for the ammonia (Hepatic encephalopathy) & hopefully off the ventilator before the procedure
Good news; Ellen drs have given her case a thumbs up for a transplant down side at this point is that the case has gone to the insurance and that wait could be up to 3 more weeks-I'll be getting updates every couple of days via email and a call as soon as she's on the list. At this point she may have to do lab work weekly
Appointment to get some lab work done followed by the liver transplant surgeon today at 1p for Ellen Rifkin to get information and his opinion as to whether or not she’s a good candidate for surgery (she’s been cleared by various dr up to this point) Prayer warriors needed. Thank you.
