Erika’s medical journey took a perplexing turn with the diagnosis of Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), a rare liver condition. The origins of PBC remained a mystery, compounded by the fact that it wasn’t hereditary. Her health challenges escalated after contracting COVID-19 in 2020, leading to repeated setbacks.

The path took a hopeful yet daunting turn as Ronnie’s diligent research revealed a rare, advanced form of Sjogren’s syndrome affecting Erika’s liver. Faced with a critical situation, the quest for a liver transplant intensified. By January 2024, Erika was on the UNOS list, anxiously waiting for a matching donor liver.

With the successful liver transplant on March 15, 2024, Erika began her arduous journey to recovery. Once a beacon of strength and compassion, she now endures constant pain and fatigue, her vibrant life now shadowed by ongoing health challenges.
