Liver Transplant Fund for Ian M Privett

Family and friends of Ian M Privett are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Ian has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Ian is a 31-year-old Admissions Specialist at UW-Parkside with an avid love for his community. For over half of his life, he has been diagnosed with a progressive liver disease – Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis – that has gotten worse over time, subjecting him to frequent hospital visits and tests, a limited lifestyle, and now a liver transplant. Thanks to an amazing, unbelievably kind and generous acquaintance from his days at Carthage College, he recently received a live donor transplant. We are forever grateful to Nina Fleming! Ian is thankful and hopeful to begin his new life.

The past 5 months post-surgery have been going extremely well for Ian now that everything has healed and returned to normal. Despite a recent small temperature causing a few days in the hospital, Ian has been feeling better than ever before. All of the tests have shown that everything is stable, with the exception of his immune system being a bit low. With some recent medication changes and immune system-boosting shots, Ian is looking forward to his 6-month check-up.

After a brief readmittance to the hospital following an ER visit due to some fluid build-up in his abdomen and surrounding his lungs, 23 days later, Ian has finally returned home! With some local blood tests and the occasional trip back to Chicago for evaluation and testing, Ian is finally able to relax with his family once again. Starting a new chapter of his life, Ian is giving it his all to make the most of the new life he has been given.
