kidney transplant expenses not covered by insurance

Upon the discovery of my father’s kidney failure, there wasn’t a single hesitation in my decision to donate an organ to him. However, the opportunity to extend my dad’s life through a kidney transplant is delayed due to financial stress. Following surgery, he will be unable to work for multiple months, making rent, food, and other needs impossible to afford in combination with the costs of medical copayments. Donations made will help to cover the costs necessary to allow him to properly recover following his transplant.

Family and friends of Douglas Larker are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Douglas has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
