Jacob Giardina

Jacob is truly the best big brother Silvio and I could have ever asked for and the most amazing son in the world to my parents. Our family’s world changed in an instant after a tragic accident that left Jacob with a severe spinal cord injury. The accident happened so suddenly that no one could have ever prepared for what followed. Right now, Jacob is facing a long and uncertain road ahead filled with hospitalization, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Our Jake is still fully himself mentally, his brain is healthy and suffered no lasting damage. We are forever grateful for the quick actions of Jacob’s friends. Their quick thinking, along with the help of our dear friend and neighbor, and EMS teams made all the difference and are a huge part of the reason Jake is still our Jake today. This accident could have very easily been so much worse, and we will never be able to fully express how grateful we are to everyone who was there for him in those first critical moments.

Jacob has shown us just how resilient and determined he is. Even in the face of something none of us could have imagined, he is ready to work hard and give everything he has to his recovery. This road will not be easy and it will be long. We want to make sure Jacob has anything and everything he needs throughout this journey. We never want him to be unable to access something that could help him heal, become more independent, or build the best life possible moving forward.

As our family tries to process everything that has happened, we are also being confronted with the overwhelming financial strain that comes with such a life-changing injury. While we don’t yet know exactly what the months and years ahead will look like, this fundraiser will help with the many unexpected costs that will undoubtedly come with Jacob’s recovery, including transportation and lodging, medical and accessibility equipment, home modifications, rehabilitation, and any other needs that may arise along the way.

More than anything, we want our family to be able to focus on Jacob. We want to be there beside him, support him, celebrate every milestone, and make sure he never feels like he is facing this alone.

The outpouring of love and support Jacob has already received has become his lifeline. He is so incredibly moved by how many people have reached out, checked in, prayed for him, and reminded him that he is loved. He wants everyone to know how grateful he is for every message, every prayer, every donation, and every person who continues to stand beside him.

We also want to use this page to keep everyone updated on Jacob’s journey. We know so many people care about him and want to know how he is doing, and we want everyone to be able to follow along as he works toward his goals and celebrates each step forward.

My hope is that through this journey, Jacob learns what all of us who love him already know: this injury does not define him, and it cannot defeat him. Jacob is so much more than what happened to him. He is our brother, our rock, our friend, and one of the kindest people we know. We believe in him completely, and we will be beside him every step of the way.
