Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, on March 6, 2010 my husband Jeff was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident, resulting in a broken back and a spinal cord injury in the neck area, leaving him a diagnosed quadriplegic. Jeff has spent the last two months in rehabilitation therapy at the Rehab Institute of Oregon (Good Samaritan Hospital) in Portland. The good news is that Jeff was able to leave this facility this past week. Nicole and Cameron finally have their Dad home with them.
Unfortunately, this past week also brought some unwelcome news. We were notified by Jeff’s employer, for whom he worked in a sales capacity, that they will be eliminating his position. Regrettably, this only adds to the overwhelming financial stress our family is now facing. We have many expenses that must be paid out-of-pocket. These non-insurance covered expenditures include: COBRA payments for health insurance, modifications to our home so that Jeff can live with us, a vehicle with a lift that will allow us greater mobility and independence, a caregiver for Jeff, and co-pays for emergency care, medical treatment, rehab therapy and prescription medications.
In spite of the many struggles Jeff is facing, he remains optimistic. This is a true blessing. In fact, he is looking forward to our annual 4th of July trip to the Oregon coast. He is determined to be there, sharing quality time with our children, extended family and other close friends. Jeff also remains hopeful that he will be able to return to a productive life in the community with the support of all of you.
To assist with these out-of-pocket expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established through the Catastrophic Injury Program of HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive is a non-profit organization that has been serving the transplant and catastrophic injury community for over 26 years. All contributions are tax-deductible and are administered for injury-related expenses only. For those of you who are able and would like to make a contribution:For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800-642-8399.

We can use your time, energy and creativity in any and every way. If you would like to plan an event to benefit this cause please contact me. On behalf of Jeff, Nicole, Cameron and myself, thank you for your kindness, generosity and prayer.
With sincere gratitude,

Juliane Pfeifer

Hello Everyone,

Check out this new photo of the the Pfeifer Family. You would never guess their back-story if you just passed them somewhere...

My name is Tammy, and I am a long-time friend of Juliane (and, by extension, her family). I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time with Juliane recently. Something we only get to do a few times a year due to our busy lives and families, etc.

When we were together I asked her about the year-end update we've received in the past, reminding us how we can help the Pfeifer Family, if we are in a position to do so.

She told me she just couldn't do it again. "It's just so hard," she said, "to continue to ask for help. Yes, we still need it, but it's just so hard to keep asking. People have been so generous and done so much for us." I told her if she didn't ask I would somehow get a hold of her password and ask myself! Little did she know...

The Pfeifers have done an amazing job of holding things together, thanks to your help, but they could really use our continuing help to be sure things continue to improve. Just imagine what it would be like if every time you receive a medical bill you're up at night wondering how you are going to find the money to get it paid and keep the roof over your family's head and try to create some semblance of a Christmas for your children.

You'd never know, looking at this photo, but the truth is they still need you (and love you) and appreciate anything you can do to help with a tax deductible gift to NTAF. It's as easy as 1-2-3 and will be so meaningful to the entire Family.

Please help now:
1. www.helphopelive.org
2. "Jeff Pfeifer" in the "Find a Patient" section
3. Click on "Donate Now" under the photo of Jeff and Juliane and you know the drill from there...

There is something that feels really good about helping someone you know and knowing how much that someone appreciates your gift and will put it to good use. Will YOU join me in giving what you are able?

Respectfully and with Heartfelt Thanks,
Tammy Wilhoite

P.S. Don't tell Juliane that I stole her password. She would be really mad at me.
