Wes is a courageous young man who has battled the effects of Type I diabetic disease since age fifteen which has led to double below the knee amputations and acute renal failure since 2008.

Wes is the father of two little girls and is working hard to maintain as much normalcy in their family’s life as possible through a positive and up-lifting attitude as he awaits a kidney transplant… the precious gift of new life. The long awaited day came and Wes recieved his transplant on May 8th, 2012. Both he and his donor, Adam, are doing well with a brotherly love.

Wes fully understands that even with insurance coverage many of his medical needs are not covered. Out of pocket expenses for immunosuppressant medications are expected to be between $20,000 and $40,000 that presents a huge challenge. (see below: Mom’s Personal Note)

In order ease the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Wes’ honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Personal Note from Wes’ Mom; We take so much for granted in our daily life, especially the simple tasks like getting up to get a drink of water, getting out of bed, or going to work…. We automatically do so many little things without thought that we forget to thank God for everything we have and for every precious thing we do, no matter how big or small it might be.

My son Wes is a true hero. He has endured more than his share of dramatic and painful life changing events but even on his worst-of-worst days just ask Wes… “How you doing?” He will just smile with a reply “O’ better not complain!” And through Wes’ up-lifitng spirit and ability to find inner-peace, we all find inner-strength and hope for a bright future through him.

Also, we are humbled with deep appreciation for all the prayers, support, and personal donations to help us reach Wes’ GOAL. And through your thoughtfulness and desire to help, we have found benefit fundraising to be a very humbling experience. Sometimes it’s hard finding the right words to express appreciation and to explain the positive impact of how just one (1) person’s act of kindness and generosity can bless and make a difference in somebody else’s life. And for that, we are all deeply blessed.
