Family and friends of Jeff Wewerka are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
His story:
Jeff, 46, has been diagnosed with heart failure. He desperately needs an artificial heart to keep him alive until he can receive a heart transplant. He is a very good candidate, however, the hospital will not proceed until they have $316,000, despite the fact that he is quickly running out of time.
In November, Jeff began experiencing chest discomfort. What he thought was acid reflux or an ulcer turned out to be a much more serious issue. He had put off going to the doctor to be checked out because he, like so many Americans, could not afford health insurance.
Shortly after his 46th birthday, Jeff found himself being transported via the ambulance to a local heart hospital. Despite having no health indicators or immediate family history, Jeff was told that he needed a quadruple bypass. During surgery, doctors discovered that his heart had sustained massive damage. After a week and a half, the doctors determined that his heart was not strong enough to recover and an artificial heart is the life-saving answer until a transplant can be found.
Only one thing stands in the way of saving Jeff… funds.
Help us help Jeff:
We, his family and friends, are working around the clock to raise funds to save Jeff’s life. If you have the heart and ability to give or have helpful information, we would greatly appreciate it. No matter what one can give, every little bit can help a lot. Together, we can help Jeff and his… Heart4Life.

Prayer for Bodily Ills to Our Lady of Lourdes:

O Immaculate Virgin Mary, MOther of Mercy, you are the refuge of sinners, the health of the sick, and the comfort of the afflicted. You know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. By your appearance at the Grotto of Lourdes you made it a priviledged sanctuary where your favors are given to people streaming to it from the whole world. Over the years countless sufferers have obtained the cure for their infirmities -- whether of soul, mind, or body. Therefore I come to you with limitless confidence to implore your motherly intercession. Obtain, O loving Mother, the grant of my requests. Through gratitude for Your favors, I will endeavor to imitate Yourvirtues, that I may one day share in Your glory. Amen.

Catholic Prayer for Healing

Lord, look upon me with eyes of mercy, may your healing hand rest upon me, may your life giving powers flow into the depths of my soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring me to wholeness and strength for service in your kingdom.

Amen

Prayer for the Sick

Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, Jeff, for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy that with his bodily health restored, he may give thanks to Thee in Thy church.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen

Remember the words I told you; keep them in mind always. The rosary is special. I pray it keeps you safe as it did me through my last cancer scare. Be strong, chin up, and keep thinking happy thoughts. You'll be out eating Mexican, sushi, and anything else that strikes your fancy soon enough.

Hi Jeff!
We are praying for you like crazy over here, and will continue to! God keeps you on our mind. I laughed to myself as I closed the fireplace doors the other night and remembered that you babysit the glowing embers til the wee hours of the morning. We're considering these memories as reminders to pray, knowing that God is actively working in your life, healing you (in every aspect of the word).

Gracie painted you a picture today - we'll pop it in the mail later this week. She's in her "watercolor/fingerpaint" period - so heads up. There's more coming your way.

Be blessed!
