Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know on July 8, 2012, I broke two cervical vertebrae in a horrific fall, which left me paralyzed from the chest down. Initially, doctors were unsure and unclear of my prospects for recovery, and did not provide me much hope or encouragement, instead telling me to focus on adapting. But from the beginning, starting just hours after my spinal surgery, I decided I would do everything in my power to get back on my feet. Since then, I have taken on a full-time schedule of rehabilitation and recovery engaging in everything from physical therapy to acupuncture to Pilates to water therapy.
Through a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication, I have made huge improvements and become a lot stronger. My doctors have even changed their attitudes and admitted that the work I am doing is paying off and that I should keep up with my current therapies to attain more success. I need your support to stay on that path.
My insurance does not pay for any therapy of any kind and zero equipment costs. My treatments are simply too much for me or my family to cover on our own. I need the generosity of others to see me through my time of need and enable my continuing recovery.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution, see the “Mailing a Check?” box on this page or select the “Donate Now” button.
Donations on this site will help offset some of the many costs associated with my recovery and help me on my journey to walk again.
If you’re interested in learning more about me and my recovery, you can follow my blog at www.arashrecovery.com.
With sincere gratitude,
Arash
I continue to use these funds to help pay for my healthcare costs. I'm grateful for the continued support!
While I continue to progress slowly but surely, my recovery activities have not ceased. If anything I have intensified my regimen of Pilates based therapy, swimming and aqua therapy, body work and home therapy.
It's through your continued support that I'm able to stay focused on my recovery and continue to work towards my goal of getting back on my feet.
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to everyone who came out for the Comedy for a Spinal Cause event last week! It was great to see you and all and I can't thank you enough for generosity
