Jeanie Buchanan desperately needs your help. At the young age of 30, Jeanie was diagnosed with a severe case of polycystic kidney disease, which eventually caused her kidneys to fail. She has been dependent on dialysis for almost five years, and receives her treatment three days a week, over four hours each day. A lifesaving kidney transplant is Jeanie’s only hope for survival, and her only chance to resume the life she once knew.
Transplant surgery will be lifesaving for Jeanie, but the costs are more than she can handle on her own. A native of Spokane, Washington, and a graduate from Lewis & Clark High School, Jeanie went on to Eastern Washington State College and majored in music, psychology, and social work, earning her B.A. in Social Work, where her mission in life was to reach out and help others. Jeanie went on to raise two children on her own, and worked hard as a single mother, while supporting her children through her career. Because of the recent progression in her illness, Jeanie is unable to work, and her out-of-pocket medical expenses are increasing each and every day.
Jeanie is now the proud grandmother of two-year-old twins, Abby and Hunter. Her children and grandchildren are the light of her life and bring her endless joy. Jeanie’s best friend and partner, Blayne, is a constant friend, companion, and support for Jeanie’s declining health – standing fast by her side to support her in her quest for a kidney and the start of a new healthy life.
Even with health insurance, Jeanie is facing high out-of-pocket medical expenses including co-pays and deductibles, travel and lodging fees, medical testing and doctor visits. She will be required to take costly anti-rejection medications that are needed for the rest of her life. These costs are expected to exceed well over $1500 per month. Jeanie needs your help.
To assist with the financial burden of Jeanie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

If we all work together, Jeanie’s transplant will be a success, and she can continue to enjoy her family and see her grand twins grow up!
Thank you for your prayers, support, and generosity.
Gratefully,
Friends and Family
A GOOD NEWS UPDATE -- We are pleased to share our news that Jeanie Buchanan received her Gift of Life - her kidney transplant - on Monday, August 8th. Thank you for your support of our continued need to fundraise.
August 30, 2015. I cannot begin to express my thanks and gratefulness for an absolutely WONDERFUL auction/bowling fundraiser Saturday, August 29, 2015. So successful!!! Thank you to the 70 people that showed up. It is absolutely amazing to me to realize that all 70 people were my family or friends. MINE. And the more I looked at them the more I realized that the whole room full of happy bowlers were my family. It is so awesome!
Thank you to dear friends who supported me and encouraged me. I had perfect strangers come to me and tell ME thanks for having the fundraiser. (And they were sent to me by a friend who couldn't make it, thank you Michelle.) Thank you to Sandy Thiese and Alan and their family for giving me much needed help. Thank you, my Mechanic Man (my significant other and I have promised never to reveal his true identity), for spending endless hours calling friends and for those friends joining in to help me. Thank you to Lynn at Valley Bowl in Spokane for opening the alley for all my friends and for jumping in there and handling the auction items and for the additional auction item that went for $100. Lynn is fantastic and my life saver! Thank you all. I am very, very blessed. As one friend, Marty said, "the people here are here because they care about YOU." Very humbling!
Both my brothers and their wives were with me including ALL of our eight grandchildren which included FIVE that turn three years old within this four-week period of time. All the kids were super fun to watch.
The auction was great and really fun and helped immensely by the owner of Spokane Valley Bowl with her vivacious personality. Thank you so much Lynn.
Today is Saturday, August 1, 2015. We had our first event today - The First Annual Benefit Car Show for Jeanie Buchanan. It was small but packed with fun people, beautiful cars, and a hot sunny day. People were very gracious and generous and I am deeply humbled by all the support and caring.
We will be setting up another fund raiser at the end of the month - August 29, 2015. Please check the new campaign for a bowling fund raiser/auction. For $10 a ticket, open bowling from 4:00 to 10:00 including shoes, plus an on going auction that should be crazy fun!!!
