Six years ago he received a kidney transplant with his younger sister Laurie donating one of her kidneys for him. Almost a year later he received his first pancreas transplant and was well on his way to enjoying a healthy productive life, but in March of 2014 the pancreas failed and William once again found himself struggling day to day. This pancreas transplant is vital not only to the overall wellness for William but also to protect the transplanted kidney from damage associated with diabetes. Transplants are life-saving but financially draining as expenses continue to compound while the patient is unable to work throughout the recovery process.
