David Jackson’s life was thrown into upheaval four years ago when he was diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). His condition worsened quickly to the point he was told that he needed a lung transplant, and was put on the transplant list at Vanderbilt. Having been on oxygen 24/7 for the past couple of years, David is excited and looking forward to receiving his “new” lungs, being off oxygen, breathing normally, and doing all of the things he can’t currently do.
David and his wife recently relocated from Georgia to Tennessee, but you may know him from the Postal Service in Atlanta, GA where he served in various positions, including Human Resources for over 25 years. You may also know David from the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia, where he once served as Usher and Bell Choir member and later became the Bell Choir Director. Or perhaps you’ve met him through his wife Kebbyn or his sisters, Dierdre and Lissa.
David has been through a pre-transplant physical rehabilitation program to get his body physically ready to endure the lung transplant operation. Now David is preparing for the financial aspect of transplant. While transplants are lifesaving, they are very expensive and present a challenge that David cannot meet alone. After many years of helping others, David is now the one who needs our help. Even with Medicare coverage, there are co-pays and deductibles, costly anti-rejection medications and clinic visits – costs could top $75,000.
To help with the financial burden of David’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution, every donation helps.
Please help David get his second chance whether by making a donation or reposting this appeal wherever you can. Thank you.

David and I would like to thank Salem Missionary Baptist Church, in Lilburn, GA for their generous donation to David, to cover our temporary housing while David is still recovering from his double Lung Transplant operation.
We really appreciate everyone's continued Love and support as David continues to heal and get adjusted to his new Lungs. We know that this was a gift from GOD. Please just continue to pray for David and me, as we know that pray works. GOD is good!!!

I would like to give everyone an update on my husband David Jackson. David has had his double Lung Transplant operation on Saturday, April 11, 2015. He is doing great. He had some complications after the surgery, but he has recovered from them. To God Be the Glory!
David and I would like to thank those of you that have given us donations, prayers and support during this challenging time. We really appreciate it.
David and I will still have financial cost above and beyond what the insurances will pay for. Examples of expenses would be: temporary housing near the hospital, medicines, therapies and any other medical expense from the transplant surgery. If you would still like to donate funds to David, it will be greatly appreciated no matter have big or small.
We both thank you so much for your continued prayers and support as David begins the healing process. He has to attended several therapy sessions as well as learn to breathe with his new Lungs without oxygen. We both know that GOD is in control and David will get through this storm on the other side with healthy Lungs and strong body.
You all are a blessing!
Mrs. Kebbyn Jackson
I appreciate all of your support and prayers! Thank you again as I continue to keep on track to get my body strong enough for a lung transplant. Do I fear? Of course I do, but my God is stronger than fear and death itself. So I believe I will get better and will have a successful lung transplant and be healed and made whole. All things work together for...Amen? Amen!
Thank You Born Again Church Family for your fund raising efforts & your generous donation, and for loving my wife and her family - as I continue to have faith and believe that God will answer prayers. You guys have displayed the true spirit of what it means to be likened to that familiar story in the bible about the Good Shepherd. Your love for Kebbyn & I will surely have an everlasting impact on the many facets my well being. God is Good! I love you BOC!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! Thank you for you continuing support.
Happy Holidays to all who've visited my webpage and adding comments to the guest list with encouraging words that mean so much to me- on this website for organ donation fundraising. Meanwhile, I am so grateful to be back in Nashville. I am currently in the process of personally thanking all who have contributed donations on my behalf. It's been a very busy holiday season for me-as my wife and I were informed that my sister in Atlanta had just lost her husband to illness the Monday before Thanksgiving day. Colossians 4:2 says "Continue praying, keeping alert, and always thanking God" That-is what I'll continually do and will also continually thank all those who have prayed, are praying, and will continue to pray for me and my family as I'm preparing my body for a major operation such as with a lung transplant.
Hi everyone. It is such a blessing to know God's got my back even in the most trying situations. He uses people to express his love and blessings. I've been through a few storms already and he's never let me down- this too shall pass. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday during this busy Thanksgiving week, and may the Lord shine his light upon each and every one if you. Please sign my guestbook at the top right side of this page when you're online. I welcome all prayers and thoughts of love. David
