Patty grew up in Chico, graduated from Butte College and has owned several businesses in Chico. She has been a hairdresser for over 50 years in Chico, owned Barbery Coast Salon for 25 years and volunteered 15 years with Park Watch. Patty is a talented artist and is trying to stay very involved with her pottery, sculpting, and painting. She has helped so many people along the way and now she needs your help. Patty is blessed with a wonderful family and support team that is committed to seeing her through this life-saving transplant.
Even with insurance, there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees, travel to and from the transplant center and Patty will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your support is needed.
To help with the financial burden of Patty’s uninsured expenses, a fund raising campaign in her honor, established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
On behalf of Patty, myself and our family, thank you for your kindness, prayers, support and generosity. Keep an eye on Patty’s campaign page because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.

Please donate. 3 months from transplant there are a few ups and downs. The signs of anemia are popping up which means expensive drugs. The biopsy to check the new kidneys was done, they have some scaring and the doctor is keeping an eye on this. They checked for rejection and no rejection this was great. It is a process especially the first year.
It will be 8 weeks from my transplant. The doctor are still adding drugs that were not included on my new drug list plan. This continues to raise the high cost of the uncovered medical expenses. Please contribute to my campaign. I'm very greatful to those who have continued to help me.
As of this date my energy level is still low but there is improvement in my red blood cells. I still can't walk more then 10 min. If I walk out side I have to be very careful of the sun, one of my drugs is photo sensitive. I wear a funny hat and use 70 sun screen and a medical mask. It is quite a site, the neighbors didn't recognize me. Lol. Thank you for your help
I'm still moving slowly, and the cost of the drugs are mounting. I hoping that that you will use the tax deduction and donate to my campaign
On Christmas day, it will be 6 weeks from the day of the transplant. The kidneys are growing and the I'm healing ahead of time. The Doctors are happy. I'm still anemic which I found out that because the kidneys are still small the haven't learned how to make red blood cells yet. They are giving me Epo injections one a week to help build my red blood cells. It takes about 3 weeks for this to start working. So, I'm still tired yet improving. I so greatful for the the team at UCDAVIS TRANSPLANT CENTER they have been excellent.
After surgery (two weeks three days from Nov. 13th 2015) the new kidneys are working and my recovery is slow, I'm doing better everyday. They say that 6 weeks is the safe period of time to give with no driving. My anti rejection drugs and anti bacterial and antiviral, covers me but I need to wear a mask when going twice weekly for labs and driving once a week to Sacramento to doctor appointments. I'm walking inside on the treadmill no longer then 10 min. Please donate what you can. Thank you
Patty recieved 2 pediatric kidneys Friday night. We are so very thankful to have recieved this wonderful gift of life. Her battle is far from over. This wonderful gift will have to be closely managed and controlled with specialized medications that are not fully covered by insurance. Your help and contributions are still needed. We deeply appreciate all of your support so far. We still need your help. No contribution is to small. Thank you to everyone!
