Our son, Ammar, is a remarkable 20-year-old college student living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a progressive genetic disorder that gradually weakens the muscles and impacts nearly every aspect of daily life. Despite the many challenges that come with Duchenne, Ammar continues to face life with resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to his future.

Ammar is currently pursuing his college degree with the dream of building a career in cybersecurity. He is passionate about technology and is working hard to create a future where he can use his talents to make a meaningful impact. Like any young adult, he wants the opportunity to learn, grow, spend time with friends and family, and work toward achieving his goals. Duchenne may present obstacles, but it has never diminished his ambition.

As his condition has progressed, his power wheelchair has become essential to his independence. Unfortunately, transportation has become one of our family’s greatest challenges. Standard vehicles can no longer safely accommodate his wheelchair, making even routine activities difficult and stressful.

Today, we are asking for your support to help us purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

A reliable accessible vehicle would be life-changing for Ammar. It would allow him to safely travel to college classes, medical appointments, physical therapy, internships, family gatherings, community events, and simply enjoy the everyday experiences that many people take for granted. Instead of relying on unreliable public transportation or limited accessible transportation services that often require advance scheduling, long wait times, or are simply unavailable when needed, Ammar would have the freedom to travel with dignity, comfort, and greater independence.

This vehicle is much more than transportation—it is access to education, opportunity, and independence. It means giving Ammar the ability to continue pursuing his degree in cybersecurity, participate more fully in campus life, maintain important medical care, and spend more quality time with the people he loves. Most importantly, it allows him to focus on building his future instead of worrying about how he will get there.
