Anthony Exavier Martin
Jacksonville, FL
Hello, my name is Anthony. I am 29 years old, and for the last three years I have been battling end-stage kidney disease.
In October 2023, what I thought would be a routine annual physical turned into a life-changing moment. After my appointment, I received a phone call from my doctor telling me that my creatinine levels and blood pressure were dangerously high and that I needed to go to the emergency room immediately because my kidneys were failing. It was impossible to comprehend that news.
After numerous blood tests and a kidney biopsy, doctors diagnosed me with a rare genetic disorder called Alport Syndrome. The diagnosis came as a complete surprise to me and my family, but it also provided answers. The severe hearing loss and declining vision I had experienced throughout my life were connected to this disease.
I began dialysis almost immediately and have continued treatment ever since while maintaining my full-time job. During this time, I have worked hard to become eligible for a kidney transplant, and I am incredibly thankful to finally have that opportunity.
While my insurance will cover much of the transplant itself, there are significant expenses that come with recovery and ongoing care that I cannot manage alone.
I am seeking to raise $20,000 to help cover:
Lost wages during my transplant recovery
Anti-rejection medications required after surgery
Travel expenses for ongoing appointments, general living expenses and follow-up care.
A kidney transplant is more than a medical procedure. It is an opportunity to regain my health, return to a more normal life, and focus on the future.
If you are able to contribute, share my story, or keep me in your thoughts, I am truly grateful for your support. Every donation will go directly toward helping me recover and protect my new kidney so that I can focus on healing rather than financial stress.Family and friends of Anthony Martin are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Anthony has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
