Family and friends of Becky Crisostomo are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Becky has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

My journey didn’t begin with my kidney disease—it began years earlier with a fight for my life.

Before I ever thought about a transplant, I was diagnosed with cancer. In just one year, I endured 12 eye surgeries, and ultimately, I lost my eye. It was a physically and emotionally overwhelming time, but it taught me resilience in a way nothing else could.

In 2020, after losing my father, I felt called to start over. I moved to Washington, D.C., searching for healing, purpose, and a sense of who I was beyond everything I had already been through. I was trying to rebuild my life.

Then, my health took another turn.

I am now facing kidney failure and the reality of needing a transplant. This next chapter comes with hope—but also with significant challenges. A transplant is not just a surgery; it’s a long journey of recovery, medications, and constant care.

I am preparing for that moment—the call that could come at any time, even in the middle of the night. I have a plan, a support system, and people ready to help me through those critical first weeks. But the financial burden of this journey is something I cannot carry alone.

Funds raised will help cover essential needs like post-transplant care, temporary housing, medical supplies, and basic living expenses while I recover.

Despite everything I’ve faced—cancer, surgeries, loss, and now kidney disease—I still believe in hope. I believe this transplant is my chance to regain my strength, my independence, and continue building the life I’ve been fighting for.
