Catherine Newell

Family and friends of Catherine Newell are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Catherine has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

A little about me:

At 12 years old, I was diagnosed with a congenital birth defect of my left kidney. After surgery to attempt repair, the damage was done and the kidney never recovered. So, I’ve lived the next 33 years with only one functioning kidney. At 30 years old, I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage III. Although I have worked the past year to preserve function of my remaining kidney, it has come time to be placed on the transplant list. The current wait time for type A blood is 4 years. With your help, I won’t have to wait that long. Not only would a living donor keep me off of dialysis, a kidney from a living donor preserves quality of life for much longer than other options.
