Hello, my name is Cathy Dixon McNeill, and today I am asking for your help in the fight for my

life.

In 2019, I was diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)—a condition

that slowly began to take something we often take for granted… my ability to breathe.

But my journey didn’t stop there.

In 2023, I received even more devastating news. I was diagnosed with lung fibrosis and a rare

and serious condition called lipoid pneumonia. These illnesses have caused severe and

irreversible damage to my lungs, making even the simplest tasks—walking, talking,

resting—extremely difficult.

For years, I’ve fought with everything I had.

I’ve endured oxygen therapy.

I’ve relied on multiple inhalers.

I’ve done everything within my power to hold on.

But now, I’ve reached a critical point.

The only option left to save my life is a bilateral lung transplant.

Where I Am Now

I am currently under the care of the incredible medical team at

Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina—one of the leading transplant centers in

the country.

While I am grateful to be in such capable hands, the journey ahead is

overwhelming—physically, emotionally, and financially.

A lung transplant is not just a surgery—it’s a life-long journey.
