Claudia Lee Sharp

Claudia is a grandma and mom who is currently battling myelofibrosis, a rare and serious form of bone marrow cancer that has changed her life in unimaginable ways. In her daily life she enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandson, going to his baseball games, playing together, and going on road trips. Claudia’s relationship with her grandson is one of her greatest joys in life. She has spent her life giving to and caring for others including her family and friends in times of need. Often giving more than she had to everyone she cares for.

Since her diagnosis Claudia has discovered that battling this disease involves much more than just emotional strength and fortitude. The illness has taken quality time away from her family due to pain including deep bone aches, stomach aches, headaches, and overwhelming fatigue. Claudia’s myelofibrosis diagnosis has negatively impacted the most important parts of her life. 

She has also experienced hardships since her diagnosis, including delayed treatment from doctors and difficulty obtaining her prescription medications used to prepare her body for a bone marrow transplant, due to the insurance company not covering the costs of contracted providers and monthly medications. 

Claudia is fundraising for the cost of temporary relocation out of state to receive the lifesaving treatment and surgery she requires and for outpatient care after the bone marrow transplant to protect the integrity of the surgery. These treatments in conjunction with after-care and temporary relocation could cost her up to $40,000 or more. 

After a lifetime of showing strength, kindness, and compassion to others she has now been presented with her biggest challenge. Claudia hopes and prays that the love and support of everyone will allow her to have many more years to spend with her grandson and daughter. Claudia and her family are asking for help with humility and hope.
