David Earl Patterson

For nearly a decade, David Patterson has faced the challenges of cirrhosis of the liver with remarkable courage, faith, and determination.

Diagnosed in 2016, David has endured countless doctor appointments, hospital stays, numerous paracentesis procedures, and a TIPS procedure—all while hearing the difficult words, “You’re sick, but not sick enough for a liver transplant.” Although these treatments helped manage his condition, liver disease continued to progress, and each day became more challenging than the last.

But David is so much more than a patient.

He is a devoted husband, the proud father of four children, a loving grandfather to fourteen grandchildren, and a cherished great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He is also a retired engineer whose curiosity and problem-solving spirit have shaped the lives of those around him. An avid aviation enthusiast, he has always been fascinated by the wonder of flight and the freedom it represents. And perhaps most fittingly, David is an author—a storyteller who has spent years putting memories, experiences, and lessons into words.

Now, his own story has reached an important chapter.

After years of waiting, David has finally been placed on the liver transplant list. He is preparing for the day that will change his life forever—the call that a donor liver is available. While no one knows exactly when that call will come, his family waits with faith and hope, trusting that God is guiding every step of this journey.

A liver transplant represents far more than a surgery. It is the opportunity for David to continue writing the story of his life—to celebrate more birthdays, spend more holidays with family, tell more stories to his grandchildren, welcome future great-grandchildren, and enjoy more quiet moments with the wife who has faithfully walked beside him through every chapter.

As transplant day approaches, the financial burden of ongoing medical care continues to grow. Donations will help offset the medical expenses associated with his transplant and recovery, allowing David and his family to focus on healing and the road ahead.
