Declan Nashland

Family and friends of Declan Nashland are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a catastrophic illness. Declan has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Our sweet Declan has faced more challenges than most people will ever experience, yet he continues to meet each day with incredible strength, resilience, and a smile that inspires everyone around him.

Because of his disability, Declan relies on a wheelchair for mobility. While his wheelchair gives him the ability to move through the world, getting from one place to another has become one of our family’s greatest challenges. Every trip to medical appointments, therapy sessions, school, family gatherings, or community activities requires lifting heavy equipment, transferring Declan in and out of the vehicle, and navigating transportation that simply wasn’t designed to meet his needs.

As Declan grows, these daily tasks become increasingly difficult and physically demanding. We have reached the point where a wheelchair accessible van is no longer a convenience—it is a necessity.

A wheelchair accessible van would provide Declan with safe, reliable transportation while allowing him to remain comfortably in his wheelchair during travel. It would make everyday life easier, safer, and less stressful, while giving more opportunities to participate in the activities he enjoys. Most importantly, it would allow our family to focus less on the challenges of transportation and more on creating meaningful memories together.

Unfortunately, wheelchair accessible vehicles and the modifications they require come with an overwhelming price tag that is simply beyond our family’s financial reach.
