Dewey Long

Family and friends of Dewey Long are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Dewey has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

We never imagined we would be in a position where we would need to ask for help, but today we are reaching out with humble hearts. Dewey is only 47 years old and has been courageously battling non-alcoholic cirrhosis, interstitial lung disease, and hepatopulmonary syndrome. He was diagnosed five years ago with cirrhosis, only 3 months ago with the lung issues and because of his lungs he is now in the pre-transplant stage for a liver. His journey includes frequent medical appointments, extensive testing, and many trips to UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dewey has been with his wife, DeAnna, for five years, and they have been married for three. He lovingly adopted DeAnna’s daughter, Shelby-Lynn, and has always treated her as his own. Family means everything to him.

We live in a rural county in Arkansas, and because of Dewey’s declining health, DeAnna had to leave her job to become his full-time caregiver. With only one limited income and increasing medical and travel expenses, the financial burden has become overwhelming.Asking for help is not easy, but we are turning to our community, friends, family, and even kind-hearted strangers with hope.
