Hi, my name is Erondina, and I’m on a journey to find a living kidney donor. I was born in the Philippines but raised in the Bay Area, just 40 minutes from San Francisco. I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV. I come from a loving and supportive family, and I’ve been happily married to my wife Catherine since 2015.
My Interests
I’ve always been someone who loves life and enjoys the little things. Cooking is one of my greatest passions, a love I inherited from my father. Whether it’s Filipino dishes or American comfort food, I find joy in preparing meals for those I love. Singing is another passion of mine—karaoke nights with family and friends bring me so much happiness. But most of all, I cherish spending time with my nieces and nephews. Watching them play sports and being present for their milestones means the world to me.
What Happened to Me?
My journey with kidney disease began last year. It all started with back pain and cold sweats, symptoms that led me to see a doctor. I was shocked to learn that my kidney function had declined rapidly, and I was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease. I had to start dialysis immediately, which completely changed my life. Before my diagnosis, I worked as a bar and beverage manager—my dream job. I loved the fast-paced environment, the people I worked with, and the joy of creating experiences for others. But my health forced me to step away from my career, something that felt more like a hobby than a job.
How a Kidney Would Change My Life
A kidney transplant would mean everything to me. It would give me the freedom to live a full life again—to be there for my wife, to support her in ways I can’t right now. It would allow me to spend more time with my family, to take my nieces and nephews to school, to celebrate their graduations, and to be present for all the important moments in their lives. Right now, when they visit me, they ask, “Are you almost done with dialysis?” and it breaks my heart that I can’t be more present for them.
I’m only 46 years old, and I can’t imagine a future where I’m not working, not contributing, not living the life I love. I want to help my wife, support my family, and simply enjoy the everyday moments that so many take for granted.

Kidney Donation Basics
A matching kidney would be ideal. However, a direct match is not necessary. A kidney donation on my behalf through the National Kidney Registry (NKR) could help another person in need who also has an incompatible donor. I would receive a compatible kidney from a donor donating on behalf of an incompatible recipient, and that recipient would then receive a kidney from a different unmatched donor-recipient.
The NKR employs data from across the U.S. to match donors with compatible recipients, increasing the number of transplants performed each year and ensuring the best patient outcomes. A donor donating a kidney on my behalf would have their hospital and medical care costs covered. Donor Shield Protections (including lost wages, room, lodging, and more) available only through the NKR may also be offered.

Family and friends of Erondina Aganon are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a transplant. Erondina has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
